Shirley with Carl Dolmetsch, circa 1960. The Dolmetsch Family Was Largely Responsible For the Revival of the Recorder, Both as a Serious Concert Instrument, and as an Instrument Which Made Early Music Accessible to Amateur Performers. Shirley Was Also A Pioneer of Early Music and Brought Dolmetsch to the Early Music and Dance Workshop in Idyllwild.
Idyllwild was always interesting. Shirley sits between Joe Saxby, Dometsch's partner, and Gloria Ramsey, one of her longest term friends and musical colleagues. Shirley with Dolmetsch and Betty Zuelke
